Daddy Make Me a Superhero

Various attempts to entertain my superhero-obsessed five-year-old son.
Shining Knight with Winged Victory
Did my five-year-old son really request a Golden Age knight for his bedroom wall? You bet he did. Don’t all preschoolers read Adventure Comics from 1941? Wait, does anyone?
Of course my kid hasn’t, nor have I. Our experience with Sir Justin is as a background player in Justice League Unlimited (given bigger parts in a few episodes). A theory I’ve read elsewhere that makes perfect sense to me is that the animators of JLU threw Shining Knight and Vigilante (previously immortalized in paper here) in the background often because they added more flavour than just another spandex-clad superhero. And now he’ll be performing the same function on my son’s wall.
So why’d he pick him? Was my boy won over by he and Vigilante’s witty banter about flat screens and Clint Eastwood movies? The easier guess would be the horse. I mean if you were five and you could get a knight in shining armour astride a winged horse on your wall, wouldn’t you? You would.
